My name is Jena Winder, and I am an English Language Arts teacher for iForward. I love teaching online, because it gives me flexibility with my schedule, and it still gives me the opportunity to work with my favorite people in the world....my students!
I went to college at Illinois State University on a Track and Field Scholarship. This was a tremendous experience for me, and I learned a lot about determination, and perseverance. I got my degree in English Education, and after college, I moved to Madison, where I began teaching high school English in Stoughton, WI. I also coached Cross Country for Memorial High school in Madison.
While working as a young teacher, I took many graduate courses at UW Madison, in the area of literacy and education. This made me a stronger teacher, and I became certified to teach AP classes, as well as supervise student teachers. I have had many student teachers over the years, have been involved in many initiatives in education, and I won a Kohl Teaching Award in 2013.
I am married to a man who makes me belly laugh every day. His name is Travis, and he and I have two beautiful children: Anna and Cole. Our family enjoys boating, camping, being outside, going out to eat, and the Green Bay Packers!
I love working here with all of the amazing students and families and I hope I get to know many more of you as your iForward career continues.
