This course covers the four big ideas in AP Biology: 1) evolution, 2) cellular processes, 3) information and 4) interactions. You will also be introduced to the seven AP Biology science practices that you will use throughout the course to explore biological concepts in both hands-on labs and virtual lab simulations. Students will learn about evolution, biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, and genetics. Students will gain a deeper understanding of complex biological concepts including biological evolution, the diversity and unity of life, energy and the processes of life, homeostasis, molecular genetics, biological communication and interactions of living systems. Students will engage in learning activities including readings, interactive simulations, modeling, hands-on and virtual laboratory experiments, projects and practice assessments. Course activities facilitate deeper student understanding of the science practices and critical thinking skills necessary to achieve success on the AP Biology Exam.
