With over twenty years of teaching experience, my goal is to continue supporting and empowering students through student-centered instruction. While mathematics is the subject I teach, my primary focus is teaching students themselves. Over the course of my career, I have developed a strong interest in the psychology of learning, particularly how students’ attitudes and past experiences shape their relationship with mathematics. Understanding these factors guides my instructional decisions and forms the foundation of my teaching philosophy. I further understand that students learn best in a place they feel safe and supported. I have always embraced the uniqueness and individuality of each student. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Mathematics Education with a minor in Middle School Math from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point and a Master of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Houston. I started my career teaching high school math before spending the next 17 years teaching adults in the technical college system. There I taught general education math courses and adult basic education courses including the GED and college prep. From this experience, I have really dug into how past experiences shape a student into adulthood. Now I have switched gears to teaching at iForward and am excited about the great opportunities and options online learning brings to students. I live in Central Wisconsin on a small farm with my family. My husband and I have four kids, ranging in age from 21 to 10. We have an assortment of pets and my family is involved in 4H, FFA, several sports, and other hobbies. I enjoy reading, writing, arts and crafts, music, and anything nerdy, like Star Wars and Harry Potter.
