Prerequisites: Passing grades in the quarter prior to this class and the student must be in good standing at our school

Driver Education is a foundation course, which teaches the theory of responsible driving. Emphasis is placed upon introduction of mechanics of driving, execution of most driving operations and a thorough understanding of the rules of safe driving. Driver Education is designed to improve students' knowledge of traffic safety and to prepare them to receive training to become safe operators of motor vehicles. Students will also study the legal and financial obligations of operating a motor vehicle, the economics of automobile ownership, the care and maintenance of an automobile, general accident prevention, and the effects of alcohol and other drugs on driving. Once this class is completed, the student may take behind the wheel driving lessons locally.
